Hey Guys, Happy Autumn!

I shoot this look a few weeks ago when the it was still summer and warm. :( But this outfit can work by adding some layers, like a light jacket or blazer. Autumn is one of my favorite season because it’s the best time for layering. It is especially easy to transition summer dresses by add items like a leather jacket (mine is coming in the mail, yay!) a chunky scarf and a pair of boots, knee highs or booties! And of course Autumn also means pumpkin and apple picking, hot drinks and dressing up for Halloween.

I am so excited to announce that I have paired up with Musings of a Curvy Lady, Thamarr Guerrier for a new blog. Thamarr and I both went to nursing school together and outside of hours of studying and clinical, we shared our love for fashion. We started "In Her Jeans” as a way to reconnect and to prove that fashion can be fun regardless of size. In Her Jeans, will feature how different body types can style trends and silhouettes while proving that you don’t have to be a size 2 or be a 5’9" model. I would have never imagined 5 years ago when I started as a nurse I would stand in front of a large audience at a Simon Mall and present fall trends. (Especially, since one of my biggest fears IN LIFE is public speaking) Two years ago I struggled with the idea of following my lifelong dream of pursuing a career in fashion. Only a little over a year ago I started this blog and under 6 months that I would no longer be a full time nurse and take on the fashion world.

Chicago!!!

The perfect blend of NYC and Boston has got to be Chicago. Last weekend I spent a few days in the Windy city visiting some friends. It was my first time in Chicago and I was blown away by the booming flagship retail stores on Michigan Avenue. From Chanel to Bottega Venetta and everyones favorite Euro brand, Top Shop. It was alive, the air was crisp and food was great!  Though we didn't have a chance to go, Chicago even has a lake in the middle of the city. So while you can have the hustle and bustle of city life, you can also enjoy a mid day getaway, sipping drinks and digging your toes in the sand. 

We took an architectural tour of Chicago by boat. I would highly recommend this tour as we learned a great deal about Chicago's beautiful and historic skyline. One of my favorite buildings was the Champagne Bottle Building (my official name for it, ha)!   

What do you think of my new boots? I was beyond excited when I snatched up these Chloe boots for over 70% off! I have been looking for several season for the perfect pair and I think these boots will be my go-to all season! I couldn't resist and took these puppies out for a stroll the day after labor day!

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. I celebrated the end of summer on Carolina Beach and in the beautiful city of Chicago. I am sad to see summer end, but it could not have ended better, with good friends and family. Carolina beach was all about some R&R for me. I spent my mornings walking on the beach and enjoying the fresh air, watching dolphins (also a first for me) and photographing nature. The rest of the day included beaching, eating lots of seafood, boardwalk-ing and enjoying the local town fair rides. The highlight of the beach however, was the hatching of baby turtles! I hadn't planned my vacation around the turtle hatching, it was an unexpected surprise. Apparently, August is a hot month for turtle hatching because the eggs are laid on the beach during May-July. They hatch between 50-70 days after being laid, and come out after dusk any day in between. I was lucky enough to learn so much from the volunteers during my wait, where I camped out by the nest for hours. I have to say, I became pretty close to the nest mom (leader in charge of the nest and the team of volunteer) because when the time came for to guide the hatchlings to sea, I was given gloves to help too!! Ekk!! I helped tiny little turtles to sea, a moments like this reminds me how beautiful nature is. I'm slightly turtle obsessed now and coming back with more friends next year.
